How would you feel about a community college that offers free courses?
I mean, what if a college opened up that was run by volunteers who teach on their free time…Maybe something that offers free online courses that have virtual lessons with readings and exercises. and is dedicated to improving the lives of the community. Would you be against such college from opening up.
If you were an employer and found out a person obtained a certain certificate or diploma from one of these colleges… Would you hire them or would you just overlook them?
That’s what an adult education center is for. What you’re proposing would have to become accredited in order for anyone to take their degrees and certifications seriously, and that’s a lengthy and expensive process – and you won’t find anyone with an advanced degree willing to teach for free for very long. It takes a lot of time and effort to prepare and teach a course, not to mention meeting with students and grading work. I’m not against it, I just don’t think it’s practical.

Until very recently free tertiary education was the standard in most parts of the world (except for America of course, because it’s so much better to spend taxpayer dollars on blowing foreigners up rather than teaching citizens), so for us this would be a return to decent education. However in such a situation I would expect proper teachers/lecturers, not locals who know a lot. Under the circumstances you describe I fail to see how a meaningful diploma or certificate could be provided. What standards of education would apply? An employer would have to be dubious about any such qualification.

IF I WAS AN EMPLOYER I WOULD NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A PERSON WHO GRADUATED FROM A SCHOOL THAT WAS PUT TOGETHER OF VOLUNTEER, AS LONG AS THE VOLUNTEERS MET ALL CRITERIA TO BE PROFESSORS AND FOLLOWED THE SAME CURRICULUM AS OTHERS SCHOOLS! I THINK IT WOULD BE A GOOD PLACE FOR LESS FORTUNATE INDIVIDUALS THAT DIDN’T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY OR RESOURCES AND DIDN’T QUALIFY FOR FASFA. IF I COULD I WOULD VOLUNTEER ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE DIEING TO LEARN OUT THERE MAYBE THE NEXT EDISION WHO JUST NEEDED A HAND.
